EXHIBITION

DEBS MARTIN

Debs Martin creates original ‘paper cut art’, hand cut with a scalpel from a single piece of paper. She lives locally to Fowey and is inspired by our ever changing landscape, sea and architecture. Her work is varied, often featuring Fowey, but might also be based on nautical charts or her iconic ‘row, upon rows’ of colourful subject matter. The exhibition will be displayed here in full from Saturday 28th September and will be able to purchase from that date.

About the Artists

DEBS MARTIN decided in 2012 to give up her career in the corporate world and study art at New College Nottingham. Debs interest in ‘paper’ became apparent after creating large scale sculptures and creating paper cut letters for an alphabet project. She achieved ‘Best in Show’ for her final project and gained her University of the Arts London Diploma. A year later, with her husband and son, they upped sticks, left Nottingham and moved to Fowey. Debs now creates original ‘paper cut art’ hand cut with a scalpel from a single piece of paper. Living in Fowey is inspirational for Debs, with the ever changing landscape, sea and stunning architecture of the town. The abundance of sailing boats and vessels during the Fowey Royal Regatta is a wonderful spectacle with a sea of colour that often appears in her work.
