Linda Warrick has had a strong affinity for clay ever since, as a child, she first worked with it. Linda graduated from Kingston upon Hull College of Education in 1971 and has taught ceramics to adults and children of all ages. Important inspiration is drawn from constant observation of form, a 'way of seeing' both the large and the minute, combined with watching birds themselves, preferably at close range. Recent visits to the gannet colony on Bass Rock, Scotland and the Farne Islands, off the Northumberland coast, have provided a wealth of new material. Each piece is burnished before firing, then smoked in sawdust. This results in the visual uniqueness of each piece along with an irresistible tactile appeal.
