Will Nash was born in 1961 and commenced his career by training as a jeweller and studying and producing ornate plasterwork. Both activities had a profound bearing on his later work - both employed large gestural sweeping rhythms, mantras for reflective life in an ever increasing secular world. In 1988 he moved to Cornwall from the Midlands and began painting work which was influenced by the clay works where he lived and the writing of the Cornish poet, Jack Clemo. In 1999 he moved again, to his current home near Fowey. This move influenced his work profoundly and he has developed a more figurative form of expression, with intimate pieces, reflecting a strong sense of place and a language of texture and light.
